SHARE (Sheffield Anti Racist Education)
is a group of Sheffielders working together to advance anti-racist education in our city. SHARE support initiatives to decolonise every sector of education.SHARE is very pleased to offer two workshops to help postgraduate researchers (PGRs) of colour to develop key skills relating to their PhD programmes.

Following on from feedback from PGR students, we will tailor the workshops to address the skills which students need and request. These may include: public speaking/conferencing, ethical review applications, works-in-progress, responding to feedback, writing for publication, writing a funding application, and others. The SHARE team represents a diverse range of knowledge, skills, understanding and experiences of anti-racist education.

We will provide guidance and support around issues identified in advance by PGR students. We aim to be flexible and interactive by responding constructively to “live” issues identified by PGRs and to help nurture an inter-disciplinary PGR peer group.

We’re delighted to invite PGRs of colour across the University of Sheffield to participate. We are planning two workshops, each for a small group of 5 – 7 people. The first workshop is planned for the 1st February 2024 (9.00am – 12.30pm) at the University of Sheffield.

Submit an Expression of Interest If you are interested in attending the first workshop, please submit an expression of interest by Friday, 8 December, 2023.

This should be a maximum of 400 words and include the following:

  • A short summary of your PhD research topic
  • Previous research
  • Reasons for your choice of PhD topic
  • Your ambitions for future development
  • “Live” obstacles are you are currently facing in your study
  • Particular help you are seeking from SHARE (eg public speaking/conferencing, ethical review, application writing, work-in-progress, responding to feedback, writing for publication, writing a funding bid), or other help?

These expressions of interests will allow SHARE to customise the workshops to meet the specific needs of participants.
